Handover is a process, not a date
A project is not finished when it looks finished. Systems are tested and demonstrated, defects are logged and closed against a list both sides can see, and the space is signed off room by room rather than declared complete in one optimistic sentence.
The paperwork is part of the deliverable
Operating and maintenance information, warranties, test records and as-built drawings are compiled as a handover pack. For regulated clients — banks, healthcare, pharmaceutical, government — that documentation is not administrative tidiness; it is the evidence an auditor will ask for.
The people who will use it are shown how
Controls, lighting scenes, AV and access systems are walked through with the facilities team who inherit them. A commissioned system nobody has been taught to operate reverts to a defect within a month.
