A showroom for a marque with no tolerance for approximation
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars · Mumbai
The constraint
In luxury automotive retail the display environment is part of the product. A shadow gap that runs out, or a finish that reads differently from one panel to the next, is understood by the customer as a statement about the car.
The response
Display joinery and specialist finishes were machined and finished at Wada rather than built on site, then installed as finished components. Lighting and flooring were coordinated into the same programme so nothing was cut into completed work afterwards.
Where the millimetre is the message, the tolerance has to be held by a machine, not by a deadline.
